Corcoran's energy efficiency is no accident!
Corcoran's Vehicle Repair Centre (VRC) in Portlaoise - the largest accident repair centre in Ireland - has recently installed two BOGE SLF series screw compressors, an EasiFit aluminium airline system and an Ambi-Rad energy efficient heating system to ensure optimised energy usage throughout the centre.

Corcoran's Vehicle Repair Centre specialises in the recovery and repair of passenger vehicles along with light and heavy duty commercial vehicles. Compressed air performs a number of key functions in the provision of Corcoran's VRC services such as panel beating, spray painting and performing crash and mechanical repairs.
The recent development of a new 30,000 Sq ft state of the art workshop facility in Portlaoise led to Gerry Corcoran, the Managing Director of Corcoran's VRC, to contact his existing local compressed air supplier for advice on satisfying the increased compressed air demands of the new facility.
Gerry Corcoran said "We realised that our existing compressed air system would not meet the expected increased demand for compressed air that the new larger facility would create. Additionally, after visiting a number of European workshops it became apparent that frequency controlled compressors were becoming the preferred technology in order to efficiently meet compressed air demand which can fluctuate from day to day in our industry."
JL Bradshaws, the local sub dealer of BOGE compressors for C&L Industrial - the sole authorised distributor of BOGE compressors in Ireland - recommended installing two BOGE SLF series frequency controlled screw compressors complimented with a complete EasiFit aluminium airline system.
The BOGE SLF series combines a direct coupled drive system with frequency control to provide the ultimate compressor for pressure control under variable output requirements. The SLF is therefore a low carbon technology that works strictly in accordance with the compressed air demand by producing the exact volume of compressed air at the pressure required. Frequency control minimises idling time and evens out air demand fluctuations. For Corcoran's VRC this would guarantee that the increased compressed air required for the larger facility could be met whilst also satisfying predicted fluctuations in compressed air demand energy efficiently.
Additionally, for Corcoran's VRC, integrating the modern EasiFit airline system of aluminium piping and airtight connectors, would ensure optimised energy efficiency by eliminating the inherent inefficiencies of traditional steel or even plastic pipe based airline systems.
Whilst planning the new accident repair centre JL Bradshaws also recommended installing an Ambi-Rad energy efficient heating system to optimally and efficiently heat the large workshop areas. The new generation of Ambi-Rad Vision radiant tube heating systems deliver exceptional performance in terms of efficiency. The elimination of both distribution and standby losses coupled with high operational efficiencies at the point of use would enable optimum fuel and energy efficiency for Corcoran's VRC.
Two BOGE SLF 51 frequency controlled screw compressors, an EasiFit airline system and an Ambi-Rad radiant tube gas fired heater were all subsequently installed.
Gerry concludes: "Our aim in developing the new facility was to be able to provide an exceptional service at an affordable price. It was therefore important to select state-of-the-art energy efficient equipment which would ensure quality results but also keep our running costs down. With the selection of the BOGE, EasiFit and Ambi-Rad equipment we are now in a position to achieve this!"
