C&L celebrates 10 years in industry
C&L is celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2008. Industry knowledge and experience, a dedicated service proposition together with a portfolio of quality products has ensured the longevity of the business.
C&L specialises in the sale, installation and service of a range of quality industrial products including; BOGE compressors, Ambi-Rad energy efficient heating systems, Domnick Hunter compressed air treatment and EasiFit aluminium airline systems.
Colum Whelan, Managing Director, had spent over twenty years in the compressed air industry when he created the business back in 1998. Colum said "Our initial goal was to build a successful company that would not only meet our expectations but also provide jobs within the local area. When we started out in 1998 we employed a team of 5. Ten years on and this figure has doubled."
Colum argues that part of C&L's success can be attributed to supplying only quality industrial products. As such, C&L was named the exclusive distributor of BOGE compressors within Ireland in 1999.
BOGE Compressors manufactures a comprehensive range of oil lubricated and oil free screw and piston compressors from 1 to 480 HP. Developing the brand in Ireland was a significant challenge for C&L. Colum said "Having spent a number of years in the compressed air industry and having serviced a number of compressor brands, I was very impressed with the BOGE package. Although the brand was still relatively new in Ireland, the quality of this German engineered product was impressive and a competitive pricing structure further convinced us that we could successfully grow this brand in Ireland."
Alongside the BOGE product range, C&L houses a complimentary range of industrial brands including Domnick Hunter compressed air purification and filtration products. Most recently C&L became the exclusive distributor in Ireland for EasiFit aluminium airline systems - a system which can reduce maintenance and operating costs for the user. Sourcing such high quality products ensures that C&L can build a complete, comprehensive and high quality compressed air system.
C&L also specialises in Ambi-Rad energy efficient radiant heaters and Thermobile waste oil Heaters & Boilers. Colum said "With energy prices continuing to rise and alarming rises in oil prices customers are keen to find ways to reduce their energy consumption. Significant savings can be made within a compressed air system.
However, savings can also be made by looking at other areas of energy consumption such as heating of the workshop or factory. The new generation of Ambi-Rad Vision radiant tube heating systems deliver exceptional performance in terms of efficiency. The elimination of both distribution and standby losses coupled with high operational efficiencies at the point of use enable fuel savings of up to 65% compared with conventional heating systems! Additionally, where a customer produces a number of waste oils, the Thermobile range of heaters and boilers can provide a 'no-cost' method of heating large spaces such as warehouses, workshops and garages by using up these waste oils. This also eliminates the need for expensive waste oil disposal services."
As part of a long term strategy to develop the business nationwide C&L began to develop a network of distributors that would provide key regional coverage throughout Ireland. In 2006 this included the acquisition of one distributor in the Midlands creating a new direct service base for C&L in Co. Longford.
Looking to the future Colum comments; "We are currently looking to develop our existing premises. As our team has expanded so has our need for office space. Additionally we are creating a trade counter to supply pneumatic fittings, couplings, air tools and other spares to a growing 'walk-in' customer base.
Alongside the development of our business in Galway we are continuing to look for new sub-dealers in other regions of Ireland so that we can truly offer all our customers nationwide sales and service.
We have already made large strides in developing our business and the BOGE brand throughout Ireland. A major goal we have set ourselves for the next ten years is to make BOGE the number 1 air compressor brand in Ireland!"
